Ron Ostroff is a senior level executive, who has spent much of his career insuring the elderly have excellent care. He brings over 20 years of experience owning, operating and consulting for multi-facility skilled nursing groups. Ron has repeatedly transformed facilities that were poorly managed, losing money and had a poor reputation to being profitable and some of the most sought after facilities for elderly care. His compassion for the elderly and their loved ones, his strong business acumen and his emphasis on regulatory compliance are some of the key drivers to his success.
Ron’s experiences with the elderly fuel his desire to deliver solutions that provide a peace of mind to the individual and their loved ones.
Chief Executive Officer
Cliff McIntosh is an expert in helping people with diabetes, and others who support those with diabetes. He brings over 30 years of commercial experience in medical devices and diagnostics. More than half of that time was spent specializing in diabetes at Johnson & Johnson. During this time, Cliff created, launched and was responsible for the Johnson and Johnson Diabetes Institute, an organization that trained several hundred healthcare professionals worldwide in diabetes. He has successfully led the filings and received clearance from the FDA and fully comprehends the nuances of the insurance and the payer industry, the person with diabetes, and the health care professional.
Cliff has held several global leadership roles in both start-up and Fortune 500 companies, enabling him to bring strong finance, management and strategy skills to Smart Meter, LLC.
Founder & Chief Technology Officer
Ben Atkin is a serial entrepreneur, innovator and investor. He has spent over 25 years in product development, with a focus on medical, dental and veterinary devices. As the Vice President of Sales at Engler Engineering he helped increase a $400,000 company to over $1,000,000 in just 2 years. Other successes of Ben’s include holding 5+ patents, as well as funding, growing and selling several medical and veterinary device companies.
Since the time of his diagnoses as a type II diabetic, Ben has spent most of his time researching new solutions for situations he and others with diabetes face daily. He is determined to create a more modern and convenient way to record glucose data and related information while engaging others in helping him master the disease.
VP Strategic Marketing and Business Development
Laurel Groven has many years of experience in bringing new products to the global market. Working ten years for Roche Diabetes Care, she has managed the Accu-Chek portfolio and introduced many diabetes products including the highly successful Accu-Chek Aviva technology platform. Laurel brings over 30 years of corporate and start-up experience. She understands what is required for strategic partnership development, and creating/executing marketing strategies to make a business venture successful.
Laurel holds a BA in Business Administration from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, Illinois.
Jeff is a trusted advisor for health care and life sciences companies. He is a founding partner of the Life Sciences Law Group where he represents pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies on a wide range of corporate and transactional matters. He also regularly provides advice on health care compliance, regulatory and general corporate matters.
Jeff holds a law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University.
Senior Regulatory Consultant
Nina Peled, Ph.D., MBA, is a seasoned regulatory consultant to start-up and established medical device companies. Nina has extensive experience in blood glucose monitoring from companies such as Roche Diagnostics and Amira Medical. She also held top leading executive positions in the areas of regulatory affairs, clinical affairs and quality assurance for a number of diagnostic and medical device companies.
Nina holds a Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, as well as an Executive MBA degree from the University of Houston.
Senior Marketing Consultant
Anita Mathew is a seasoned marketer; with a strong passion to develop new solutions that help individuals with chronic diseases manage their lives. She was a Co-Founder and VP of Business Development at Glooko. Anita also spent over 8 years working on new products at LifeScan, A Division of Johnson and Johnson.. She launched the OneTouch meter that communicated with the Medtronic pump, as well as the J&J concept meter that communicated to an iPhone.
Anita holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University.
